entertaining myself by researching the background of different forms of fighting and weapons, i’ve acquired more knowledge on the topic, however, it also makes me CRAVE more weaponry! oh, how girly of me! i thought i’d educate you too, reason being is that someone asked me what wushu was (word found in ‘about me’). Well, i’ll come to that.
There are three main categories that fighting forms are separated into. Striking, Grappling and weaponry. Under these categories, there are sub-groups. Striking- punching (eg. Western boxing, wing chun) and kicking (eg. capoeira, savate, taekwondo) other (eg. muay thai boxing, karate, wushu) Grappling- Throwing (eg. glima, judo, jujutsu, sambo, shuai jiao) joint lock (eg. aikido, hapkido) and pinning techniques (e.g. judo, wrestling) Weaponry – traditional (eg. fencing, kendo, kali) and modern (eg. eskrima, jukendo, jugo do pau).
okay, i guess its a tad boring 4 those who dont give a damn, so just to answer the person’s Q. Wushu is chinese martial arts aka kung fu. The japanese martial arts is called bujutsu and korean is musul.
